Cambridge Kitchens Team Running Chariots Of Fire 2019

The Chariots of Fire race is an incredible running event held every year in Cambridge raising money for local charities and this year Cambridge Kitchens will be entering a team for the event.

This year the race will be raising money for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). ACT is fundraising for a new specialist children’s ambulance service, dedicated to providing the highest level of care for the regions sickest children. With over £1.25 million raised since the first event in 1992, it is hoped that a significant amount can be raised for ACT this year.

Each runner completes a 1.7 mile lap through central Cambridge and there are 6 runners per team. The first ever Chariots of Fire race was held in the grounds of the Perse School for Boys, this included 77 teams, and the race took place in torrential rain! The event since then has grown and moved to its current location at Queens Green, the route now includes: Trinity, Kings and Clare colleges.

Almost 300 teams of six people each took part in the 2018 Chariots race, with the winning time being an incredible 57:22. This year the Cambridge Kitchens team have been training hard(ish) and hope to achieve a slightly more modest time. The aim is to raise £500 for ACT, but we hope that we can beat this. Any donation for the team would be greatly received, you can donate on our Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cambridgekitchensandbathrooms.

Update: Here is a picture of a very tired team after the run…
