RIBA Suffolk Craftmanship Award 2017

We were delighted to have been involved with the design and installation of the kitchen at Roswell House, Thurston, and last month’s winner of the RIBA Suffolk Craftsmanship Award 2017.

Our client wanted a sleek handle less kitchen in keeping with the modern new build. We designed a large island to be the focal point with seating & statement granite worktop. Corian “Vanilla” work surfaces were chosen for the rest of the kitchen with 50mm upstands, including a large corian sink and Itho hot water tap.

A Miele induction hob was designed into the island with an Elica Cloud ceiling hood above. All cooking appliances were from Miele M touch range including a built in Miele dishwasher. The kitchen furniture featured a combination of Magnolia for the island and anthracite for the tall and surrounding base units. The handle less look is extremely popular in contemporary designs for its seemless, sophisticated look.

Our client’s other wish list items included having plenty of storage in the way of pull-out drawers, to include tall units for a built in steam and combi oven, as well as building in their current fridge-freezer. Space for food preparation was also important in the design brief and the space under the window combined with the large island is perfect for any creative cook.

The overall look and feel of the kitchen is in perfect harmony with the rest of the house and the judges obviously agreed!
